Handled it right

As I was riding in my car today I happen to hear about a fan wearing a Donovan McNabb jersey at Eagles training camp. Then they went on to say it was a Washington Redskins jersey. I immediately said to myself "thus guy must be against the Eagles for the decision they made." So I kind of "got it" and did not have a problem with it. So naturlally when I heard that a security guard allegedly told him (Jim Devlin) that coach Andy Reid wanted the jersey removed, I took the fans side.

However after reading Philly.com's story about the incident I quickly changed my opinion. This guy said "I wasn't trying to make a statement, I was just trying to get a reaction out of the fans" I said this is what the national media doesn't understand about Philadelphia fans. Because of a few incidents in the past (which I must add almost every die hard city has their own cases), Philly fans are constantly being tested and under the microscope.

What did this guy really want to happen? Oh I must add that he claims to be an Eagles fan. That may very well be true but if he is a true fan why would he try to give the media more to talk about? Was is mainly cause he wanted his 15 minutes? But why would he want to recieve that if it meant his "brotherhood" would be scrutinized?

The incident is byond puzzling to me. I'm just glad that an Eagles fan didn't throw something at him or shout stuff. Shoot the last thing Philadelphia needs is another "J.D. Drew incident" or worse. For once they handled it with class, but I highly doubt they will recieve any credit etc.

Oh well I guess it doesn't pay to be the nice guy because the only time they get attention is when it's for the wrong reasons.
